Horcrux Socks Done

I finished these last night, after frogging the heel on the second sock twice. No matter what I do, I get holes sometimes at the corners. I've tried to research tips and tricks, (God knows I love to research) but I think it's just that I'm a loose knitter and I need to tighten up a bit more. I think I tighten up, but tight for me is not tight enough, I guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Someone said to think of people that annoy me while I knit.
Son loves them. He's a big Harry Potter fan, and I knit these for him before Susan named the pattern, so it worked out perfectly. I'm a bit of a Muggle, so if you are like me and need a definition for Horcrux, click here. We have a Flickr group now, so if you want to investigate all the variations, you can see them.

Hmmm, you seem to do a gusseted heel and I have only done a short-row heel so far (newly addicted sock knitter!). But if you want to attempt a holeless SRH, there is a wonderful tutorial over at www.cosmicpluto.com/blog/ that I found really helpful and voila, no holes!

I pick up an extra stitch at the corner and knit it with the fist stitch on the next needle. Make sure you twist it as you knit it. Nice looking socks!

Donna -- I couldn't figure out your email, so thought I'd answer your question here in the comments. I don't recall having that problem with the vest. I used both yarns for the 8 rows. Hmmm. I think I remember having to cut and re-tie at the other end in order to maintain the pattern, but I'm not sure. The vest is at home, so I'll check later and see if I can offer more help.

It's a cool pattern and I've gotten lots of nice comments when I've worn the vest!
